Orphan Care at Faith Baptist

For those of you who were not aware, Faith is starting an "official orphan care ministry." Because of families such as the Nasons, Gaskins, Johnstons, orphan care support has already been going on in many years past. However, now it will be official.

Being a foster/adoptive parent takes a network of people to succeed. If the church is being the church, then the best way to show support for orphan care is to become a part of it. Faith is starting a process where families can apply to have help financially in the adoption process. Most are aware adoption is costly (although not in all cases). Money is just a resource and should not be an excuse not to pursue adoption/foster care.

I wanted to highlight a meeting Matt and I attended Sunday at Faith. The meeting was for anyone who has ever heard the word "adoption" and wanted to know more about.
There was a panel of three woman, 2 two from LifeChoices and 1 from Bethany Christian Services. Ryan, as well as participants who attended the class, asked the panel directed questions
I highly encourage anyone who has thought about adoption to get more information from either one of the agencies.

What I mainly wanted to highlight is a new program called Safe Families being provided by Bethany. God has called Christians to take care of "the least of these," and this is another opportunity.
This is a program designed to keep children from going into the foster system and staying there until he/she ages out.

The process for becoming a safe family is not near as extensive as being a foster parent for the state or adoptive parent through Bethany. The ideal time-line would be a child to stay in the safe family home about 45 days, let the parents get back on his/her feet (addiction, job loss, domestic violence etc), then return home.

What better way to minister to a child and the birth family than taking a child in temporarily to allow the parent time to get life back on track.

Please begin to pray how you can minister to the orphan, or the widow, or "the least of these."
