After telling Matt's mom and dad, the next person we wanted to know was Allen. Because he is adopted, we wanted his blessing as well as his insight. We knew Allen would be honest with us and give us a perspective of what it is like not being biologically a part of the family.
We chose to wait and tell Matt's brother Jonathan and sister Amanda at the St. Jude Half Marathon in Dec 2011. It was a special day because it was both of his sibling's first half marathon.
We told them before the race started and both were super excited to be a part of the process.
When the race was over (and Matt was not in such great condition), Jane realized we had told his siblings without her being around. I think she was a lil disappointed she was not able to witness their expressions or reactions. Sorry Mama Jane!! :)
