Nasons re-unite.....in France

Sorry for lapse in blog posting....I wrote this one several days ago but just now publishing. Have had issues with uploading pictures and saving of post.
Matt and I have been going non stop and traveling a lot!


On Saturday afternoon Matt joined me in Lyon for one evening only to fly to Spain the next morning. Unfortunately, the weather in Lyon was cold and rainy on Saturday, but we were all troopers and made the most of it. After checking into our "quadruple room" at hotel which was very nice, we took the guys to the main tourist places we visited in Lyon.
Sounds crazy but it was even snowing while we were walking around the city.

For dinner we took them to the restaurant our professor had taken us to the week prior for true French cuisine. The guys were falling asleep at the table waiting for check so we grabbed dessert from another local place and went back to hotel for the night.

Sunday we awoke and started our day of travel to Spain. We had two flights of a little over 2 hrs total but yet our day started at 8:30 am and we arrived in Spain at 9 pm. We had layover in Spain of 7 hrs. It would have been nice to get out and see the city but it was raining and we hadn't planned ahead on what exactly to do so we chilled in airport. Our lovely hosts George ("horhah") and Jana were at airport waiting for us. It was nice to have a welcoming, inviting entry into Spain. It was drastic change from our arrival in Lyon France.
We went back to their place and it was incredible!! Such a cute spanish but modern house. Pictures don't do it justice.
They fixed us pizzas and had a Spanish omelet with traditional crackers.
BTW, in Spain, meals are late and often. They eat about 5x a day with lunch being the largest meal. Lunch isn't even served until around 1:30-2. So us eating at 11pm was normal.

Monday morning we slept In and enjoyed our view from the guest house. I ate cereal with milk for breakfast! It was glorious. Probably one of the main things I miss is cereal and milk.
Jana's birthday was Monday so we tried to make her feel special. She is charde's friend from lipscomb and is currently living in Spain. It has been a huge adjustment and she enjoyed having American culture and English speakers for her birthday. We were her first house guests. It was extremely gracious of her to be an amazing host even on her birthday.

It was a wonderful sunny day so we went to the main part of the city, murcia, to walk around and have lunch (at 2:30).
Our spanish Lunch was awesome!! Great food from beginning to end. Matt even had a massive baked potato with meat and hot sauce. It was the first baked potato I've seen since being in Europe.

Monday evening we made the drive (in 2 diesel cars that costs almost 100 American dollars a piece to fill up but get 60 miles to gallon) to Granada, a very typical Spanish city.
We arrived late and went to find dinner. Most places we're closed so we eventually ended at burger king :(

Tuesday morning started with a "continental" breakfast at hotel for 3 Euros a piece. Best part of breakfast: American coffee!!!!!!! It was well worth 3 euros just for that. We also had cereal/milk, muffin, toast with jam and orange juice.

Tuesday was gross!!!!! And I mean gross!! Cold wet and rainy and silly me did not bring tennis shoes for overnight trip. Awful mistake. My pants were wet half way up my knee and my toms weighed 10 pounds. Absolutely soaked and quite miserable. At one point I went back to hotel to get coffee, warm
up, take my shoes off and try to dry them with hand dryer in bathroom.
And my Spanish lunch consisted of SUBWAY! :) We did get a fabulous Spanish pastry before heading home. Kind of like a funnel cake called a mon (monkey)

HOWEVER the best part of trip was visiting the Alhambra. I wish I had been more comfortable to enjoy it but nonetheless this muslim palace was very impressive. I knew nothing about this place but our wonderful hosts (and tour guides) gave us all kind of history. Check the website out if interested.

Wednesday we visited a Spanish winery/vineyard (separate post) and are now back in Paris France
These language changes are really starting to get confusing lol
